Binondo has been a Chinese quarter since the sixteenth century, which makes it the oldest one anywhere. It still works as a commercial district first and a residential one second: ground floors are shops, warehouses and restaurants, and what people rent are the flats above them. The streets are narrow, the signage is bilingual, and almost nothing here was built with parking in mind.
